The Real Queen Of Facts: RH Bill

"Premarital sex is just an activity." - Ms. RAGRC 2012

What can you say about her opinion regarding Premarital sex? Agree or Disagree?

"As we delay the RH bill, mothers die, abortions happen, teens get pregnant. Intelligent debate, yes. Delaying tactic, no!" - Sen. Pia Cayetano via Twitter

Hello friends! : )

RH Bill is becoming a hot topic again in our country and I know many Filipinos, including me, do not really know or understand what RH Bill is really all about. So I decided to make a blog regarding this topic but I cannot find any reliable sources that will give you a comprehensive information and can make you understand the topic more easily.

While using Twitter, I saw Bianca Gonzalez's Twitter account and the first thing I noticed is her 1.7 million followers! Cool yeah! Well I'm not that surprised that many people are following her because knowing this woman, she is very intelligent and knows what to share/tweet in her Twitter account. So I scrolled down her account and I so this tweet that really caught my attention.....

So at last, I found a comprehensive information regarding RH Bill from a very reliable source, Sen. Pia S. Cayetano. Here's her "Ten Facts about the RH Bill":

Ten Facts about the RH Bill
by Sen. Pia S. Cayetano
FACT 1: RH Bill gives a person freedom to choose what family planning method to use, or NOT to use any method at all.
Once and for all, if you do not want to use any family planning method, if you choose to use an artificial mode of family planning or natural family planning, that choice is yours and yours alone. This is made very clear in the following section of SB 2865.

FACT 2: RH Bill does not legalize abortion. In fact, it explicitly adheres to the penal law on abortion.
As I repeatedly explained during the debates, the provision below is meant to ensure that every woman, like every Filipino, deserves optimal health care which includes compassionate care.
In fact, during one of our debates on the Senate floor in September last year, Sen. Vicente Sotto III, who is vehemently opposed to the RH bill, conceded and even agreed with my position that women with post-abortion complications seeking emergency attention in any medical facility should not be treated like criminals. Instead, they must be treated humanely and given compassionate medical care, which is precisely what Section 3 (i) calls for. For more details on that discussion, click on link here: RH Bill won’t legalize abortion on my official website.
Sen. Pia Cayetano [explaining Sec.3 (i) and (j) to Sen. Sotto] : ’It shocks me that there are people who believe that women who have gone through an abortion need to be treated like criminals because they have committed an act which is defined as a crime in our country.’
‘…In fact in many hospitals they are treated badly, they are pushed around to the side. In fact, some of them will bleed to death because they will not even be attended to, to punish them for that crime. And I will fight for the right of this woman to have the care that she needs because the emotional, psychological trauma that goes through to have an abortion is something that we, who have not been through an abortion, can never understand and she deserves that from the State.”
Sen. Vicente Sotto III [agreeing with Sen. Pia's remark]: ’Yes, Mr. President, I do agree. As a matter of fact, I will be by the Sponsor’s side in defending that woman.’
Sen. Pia Cayetano : ’Then we have no problem.’
Source: RH plenary debates (September 5, 2011)

FACT 3:  RH Bill does not impose an ideal family size and leaves this decision to couples.
The provisions quoted below is self-explanatory and puts to rest any misconception there may be on this matter.

FACT 4: RH Bill respects the religious convictions and cultural beliefs of all.
I am aware that certain religious groups are anti-RH. I respect their position. But I cannot adopt their position because it would be depriving other Filipinos who have other views on reproductive health and on the reproductive health care and services that they need and want. As I said in my sponsorship speech, it is my job as a duly elected public official to represent every Filipino, not just one religion. Having said that, I repeatedly clarify that those who do not want to use contraceptives are not being forced to. Each person is at liberty to decide for his or herself.

FACT 5: RH Bill will not teach a 10-year-old how to use condoms. RH education is age- and development- appropriate.
Time and again, sex education has been taken out of context. As I explained in my sponsorship speech, sex education shall be age-appropriate. It includes a child using the proper name for their body parts. It includes understanding the biological function of their bodies, such that they know that babies grow in mommy’s tummy and do not come out of bamboo trees.

FACT 6: RH Bill promotes BOTH natural & artificial methods.
Again, there is so much disinformation spreading that only artificial family planning shall be promoted under the RH bill. This is false.

FACT 7:  Contraceptives are safe and effective family planning tools
Anti-RH advocates repeatedly raise the issue on the safety and effectiveness of contraceptives. That is a  valid concern. But like any medicine or medical device, all contraceptives  shall be approved by a government authority, the Food and Drugs Administration (FDA). And like medicines, there will be respect for choices. Couples must decide what is best for them with the advice of their health care provider. Clearly, vasectomy or ligation will not work for a young couple who may want to have more children in the future. On the other hand, some women prefer to use the pill or the IUD. These choices are personal ones. Contraceptives is not a ‘one-size-fits-all’ solution.

FACT  8: RH Bill will not indiscriminately distribute condoms to all.
During the Senate RH debates in October last year, Sen. Ralph Recto repeatedly stated that “Parang nagtutulak tayo ng contraceptives!” (It’s like the government will be ‘pushing’ or peddling contraceptives) in connection with the bill’s principle of “universal access” to reproductive health care services (Section 2) and the provision mandating mobile health care services (Section 12).
In response, I explained that reproductive health care is not all about contraceptives, but addresses real and unmet needs of women and families.  The need for a mobile health vehicle in particular is important to reach far-flung areas where health care is inaccessible. These  services may not only save a mother’s life, but will help couples plan the number and spacing of their children. I clarified that minors and the youth also have RH needs, which we should address primarily through age-appropriate RH education and counseling. But we should also not turn a blind eye to the alarming problems of teenage pregnancy (we have the highest teenage pregnancy rate in Southeast Asia) and numerous cases of young children being sexually abused, sometimes by members of their own family. These are real issues which we should not trivialize by irresponsible statements that the government would freely give away contraceptives to the youth under the RH bill.  As I emphasized on the floor, the mobile health care unit is not a ‘contraceptive ice cream truck.’
For more details, see the highlights of floor debates between Sen. Recto and myself , RH debate highlights: October 5, 2011 on my official website.

FACT 9: An average of 11 mothers die daily. That’s a fact.
During the Senate debates, Sen. Sotto kept questioning official figures on our Maternal Mortality Rate (MMR). He claimed that the figure of ’11 mothers dying per day’ had no basis, and was merely being exaggerated in media reports.
“Eh alam naman natin siyempre kung papaano dalhin kasi ng media iyong ’11 mothers die a day.’  Eh, hindi, eh..  This cannot be accurate.. So, may I ask the Committee to furnish the Senate a copy of how this survey was derived at.. If they can furnish us, I will try to urge 13 Senators to vote for this bill tomorrow on third reading…”  - Sen. Vicente Sotto III, Senate RH debates (Aug. 22, 2011)
I explained that the figure is an average generated from data provided by official sources, such as the United Nations (UN), the National Statistics Office (NSO) and the National Statistics and Coordination Board (NCSB). I also provided my colleagues with a copy of how this number was derived, as illustrated on the table below:
  •  Notes:
  • Column D calculated by dividing Column B by 1000 and multiplying result with Column C.
  • Column F calculated by dividing Column D by 100,000 and multiplying result with Column E.
So ngayong meron naman  po tayong naibigay na paliwanag, pwede na ba natin asahan si Sen Sotto to call on the majority of senators to act on the RH BILL?
But regardless of whether there’s just one woman or 11 women dying daily, the fact remains that mothers are dying from a highly-preventable cause.  If there were only 10 women or 3 women dying, is that one life not worth saving? Who are we to deprive them of access to information and supplies that can possibly save their lives?

FACT 10: RH Bill will not force anyone to act against their ethical or religious beliefs.
Anti-RH advocates often state that people are being forced to adopt a certain type of family planning method. Or that health care providers will be forced to recommend certain kinds. Fact 1 above already clarifies that each person is free to make their own choice of family planning method. Sec 18 below further provides that a heath care provider can make a conscientious objection.

After reading these facts about RH Bill, I can now say that whatever is my choice, whether it's "Pro-RH Bill" or "Anti-RH Bill", I have the knowledge why I came up with that decision unlike some people out there who is telling to everyone what's his stand and saying much about it but in fact he really doesn't understand a thing about RH Bill. In life, we really have to know first and understand a thing before we come up with a decision or to judge others decision, right? I hope this blog that I shared to you about the facts about RH Bill from Sen. Pia S. Cayetano helped you a lot to understand what RH Bill is really all about.
So are you a Pro-RH Bill or an Anti-RH Bill? Share your thoughts to us! : )

"You don't have to focus on your imperfections..... You just have to love yourself." - Sebastian Castro

What a great quote, right?! Aha! Uh-Oh! Who is Sebastian Castro?! Oh okay, I'll tell you who he is. So, before doing this new entry I decided to watch a live stream of Sebastian Castro over the internet.

Live stream last August 04, 2012
Well, it's my first time to watch his live stream and I am so "kilig" and all while he is speaking Tagalog. Oh gaaah! He sounds like Sam Milby with his "Weh??? Di nga???" line. Haha! I can say that he is such a nice guy! Oh, before I forgot, he is a model and he don't have any Filipino blood but after 8 months of staying here in the Philippines, he learned how to speak our Filipino language! Cool yeah! He is in United States right now and he is doing an Independent film. So cool! Haha! So to cut the story short, someone asked him if he has any imperfections and he quickly answered, "You don't have to focus on your imperfections..... You just have to love yourself" and I am so impressed! He is so positive about anything and I like that! He's a good entertainer too! I so love his Teach Me How To Dougie version! Haha! And I've got 3 out of 3 shoutouts from him! How sweet is that, right? : )

Hello friends! :D

Before this, I posted a blog about some beauty secrets that everyone must know for us not to harm ourselves because like me, I know everyone wants to have a good health throughout our life and to have a fairer/whiter skin. Did you guys know that one of my obsession is to have a whiter skin like Sarah Geronimo? Hahaha!

I'm so obsessed with her knees! Wow!
Oh I know it's impossible but who knows? Sabi nga, tiyagaan lang yan! Love yourself! And if you love yourself, you'll try anything that will help you to have what you want. Like for me, I want to have a fairer/whiter skin so as much as possible I try to drink plenty of water. Also, I see to it to at least drink one glass of milk a day. Not to eat oily foods or at least lessen it! Hahaha! And to sleep as early as 9 PM if possible and that's so challenging for me and I never tried doing that! Aigoo! Hahaha!

So earlier this morning, I went to SM Bacoor with my Mom to accompany her in Our Home store then after that I asked her if we can go to Watsons so I can buy some stuffs. You know guys whenever I go out with my Mom I'm so happy and contented because I know if I want something she'll gonna buy it, if it's really worth it! Haha! Mothers know best and I believe that! Also it's our bonding moment --- GUMALA! Haha! Here's what I bought in Watsons.....

I bought a new body scrub, a Vaseline Whitening Face Scrub and hand soap because I'm out of stock. While strolling around, I remembered what my college friend Ezekiel Bunda told me before that this Asian Secrets Whitening Body Scrub is really effective to helps you whiten your skin so I search for it and told my Mom to buy that for me. Haha! I also bought Myra Hand & Body Lotion, wala lang, I just wanna try it! Haha! So let's have a quick review about these products and what I usually use to achieve the fairer/whiter skin that I want! Want that? : )

The Real Queen Of Beauty Secrets

"Beauty is not definite, we define it". - Miss Universe 2011 3rd runner-up Shamcey Supsup

Hello friends! : )

So while I'm thinking what topic should I post for today, I decided to go to the Yahoo! web page to see what's the current news and/or trends this past week and I saw some interesting news like the London Olympics 2012Taylor Swift's love story and the boys she dated before, Kate Middleton gets stressed by her 5 outfit changes a day, and then I saw this article entitled "Beauty Habits That Do More Harm Than Good" which is quite interesting, right?? After reading this article I'm a bit surprised about what I discovered so I decided to put this in my blog and also for you to learn something new today! Enjoy reading! : )

Beauty Habits That Do More Harm Than Good
By Maui V. Reyes for Yahoo! Southeast Asia

We know you're no stranger to beauty habits. It's safe to assume that many a modern woman knows the skin cleansing regimen by heart (cleanse, tone, moisturize!), and that it's always good to get a spa treatment once a month (or twice, if you can afford it!)

But do some of your everyday habits actually do more harm than good? We expose some beauty habits that could be doing more harm than good on your body.

Using too much hand sanitizer. They come in cute containers and in an array of yummy scents, but when possible, opt for soap and water instead. The Food and Drug Administration in the United States has already confirmed that triclosan, an antibacterial found in most soaps and hand sanitizers, doesn't make your hands any "cleaner" compared to using good ol' regular soap and water.

Long-term exposure to triclosan might even promote bacteria and virus resistance to antibiotics. If you simply must tote around hand sanitizer, pick one that's alcohol-based. And pack some hand lotion too—hand sanitizers dry out skin!

Constantly trying out new beauty products. We know that using the same products over and over again can get pretty boring. But reaching for those new products in cute packaging or because they're just cheaper might do more harm than good. You may develop sensitive skin from being exposed to too many different chemicals and fragrances. This may lead to rosacea, a red, patchy skin condition that can make your skin inflamed.

If the beauty products you use work for you, don't change it. If you do, however, feel like it's time for a change, keep in mind that it usually takes 6 to 8 weeks for your skin to react to a product's active ingredient, so be patient.

Brushing after every meal. It makes sense to brush after every meal, especially if you just had garlicky salpicao for lunch right before a big client meeting. But try to wait at least half an hour before picking up your toothbrush: studies have shown that brushing your teeth within 20 minutes of having a meal (mostly acid-rich foods like fruits, soda, wine, and coffee) could damage your teeth. That's because acids in food soften your tooth's enamel, making it vulnerable.

Brushing right away could scratch the enamel, and push the acids further into the tooth. Absolutely need fresh breath now? Pop a breath mint and brush your teeth after your meeting.

Relying on nutritional supplements. According to a 2009 study done in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, if you have no vitamin or mineral deficiency, you should stick to getting your nutrition from the food that you eat. And your body doesn't absorb most of the vitamins in pills anyway—you only end up with quite expensive urine! But most of us take it out of habit—so we don't really know or care about its contents. Which can be worrisome: too much Vitamin C may cause gastrointestinal problems, and if you're expecting, too much Vitamin A could be toxic to a fetus.

Over-washing your hair. We know that one-day old hair can sometimes be icky (especially in this humid country of ours), but for some washing your hair every day can strip it of natural oils that help keep your tresses conditioned. Without these oils, your hair becomes more prone to breakage. Of course, if you have an oily scalp, do the daily washing routine. And if you just can't stand not washing off the dirt and excess sebum every day (most of us can't), make sure to condition or use a shampoo that has nourishing oil or other moisturizing properties.

PINOY PRIDE! Well, I was finding some information related to fashion and the first person that came out in my mind is Sir Rajo Laurel so I searched his name in the search box on Twitter then I saw a link of his official site and I was surprised when I saw Tyra Banks' photo wearing the same gown of Sarah Geronimo in a magazine shoot! For those who do not know me that well, one of my dreams is to become a successful and famous fashion designer in the world and I am a self-proclaimed "Frustrated Fashion Designer". Hahaha! I still remembered when I was in elementary, when I'm alone in the house or no one sees me in our room, I will wrap the bed sheet in my body and put some pins so it will look like a gown to me and I'll go in front of the mirror and do some poses. Hahaha! Ssshhh! That's a secret, okay?? And until now, I'm still doing it! Yay! Hahaha! I will show to you guys my first ever collection! I'm excited! Are you ready???

The Real Queen Of Social Networking Sites

"My August wish is to pass/top the Nursing Licensure Examination and to have our school (De La Salle - Health Sciences Institute) a 100% passing rate." - DramaQueenSimon

How about you? What is your August wish? I hope it will come true! Just trust yourself and PRAY! --- POSITIVITY ---

Hello Friends! : )

This is my first ever blog! To tell you honestly guys, I really want to have a blog but then I'm kinda confused if I'm going to create and have one like this because actually I really don't have any idea how to start doing this thing! Thanks to my very good friend, Hearts (Dys Pacete), for the inspiration and for helping me out to start with this blog.

One of the main reasons why I really want to have a blog is to share my thoughts, interests, and my "kadaldalan" and "kalandian" to the whole world! Haha! I'm kinda addicted also in social networking like Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Tumblr, and Instagram. Trivia: I only have one username in all of my accounts except in Instagram --- DramaQueenSimon. Also, I only have one displayed photo in all of my accounts except in my blog! Haha! So let me share to you guys what I usually do in my accounts.

When I woke up every morning around 8 to 9 AM, the first thing I do is to open our internet then plug my laptop (because it's battery is not functioning well) and the electric fan (I started doing this after the Nursing Licensure Examination, July 02, 2012). Then I will open my laptop and click all my accounts in different tabs in one window. Haha! So in my Facebook account.....

I like to scroll down the news feed and LIKE and LIKE and LIKE all the interesting pictures and the status of my friends or fan pages and when I feel bored doing it, I'll just close it and done! Haha! Then next thing that I will open is my Twitter account!

I really love my Twitter and I'm proud to share to you guys that I have more than 1,000 followers! How sweet is that, right?? Hahaha! In Twitter, I could share lots of information about myself, what I'm doing, some fun facts and anything that is happening under the sun! And also in Twitter, people will not know if I'm online until I post a tweet. Stalker lang ang peg! Cool yeah! I'm also free to express what I feel and I can follow my favorite celebrities and know what they are doing that time. After updating my Twitter, the next thing I will open is my YouTube account.

What I do in YouTube is just to see if my video views went up and to check for some new comments. Warning! If you will check my YouTube account don't be surprised if almost all of my videos are all about Sarah Geronimo because I'm her no. 1 fan and I'm a certified Popster by heart! I will post a blog soon about Sarah Geronimo and how obsessed am I for being her fan! Haha! Next is my Tumblr.

Well I'm not active in Tumblr but when I post photos in Instagram I also share it to my Tumblr account so in that sense it will also be updated. Lastly and one of my favorites is my Instagram (Simon Cabrera).

I love using this application in my iPod because you know, like in my Facebook, I love scrolling down and see all these amazing and sometimes breath-taking photos of some celebrities or unknown people who loves to capture these beautiful sceneries. I also got a chance to see what they are doing and knew what they likes or interests. I also enjoyed sharing photos and having some likes to my friends and also to those people that I do not know. Well, this new blog of mine is an addition to my most used social networking sites that I open everyday and will be part of my life for sure! : )

So friends, do you think I can be called "The Real Queen Of Social Networking Sites"??? :D
